Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy explains what personal data TypeQuick ("we", "us") collects when you use type-quick.com, why we collect it and what rights you have. We aim to collect as little as possible: you can take typing tests without an account.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Miguel Miranda, Portugal. Contact: hello@type-quick.com.
2. What we collect
Without an account
- Your test results are calculated in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
- In multiplayer races: the nickname you enter and your race progress, kept only for the duration of the room.
- Technical data needed to serve the site (IP address, browser, pages requested), processed by our hosting provider for security and delivery.
- Usage statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies (see section 5).
With an account
- Name, email address and, if you register with email, a securely hashed password.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- Typing results: WPM, accuracy, duration, language, test mode and date.
- Competition results.
Your display name, profile picture and results appear publicly on leaderboards, competition pages and your public profile. Your email address is never shown publicly.
3. Why we use it (legal bases)
- Providing the service (accounts, saving results, leaderboards, competitions) — performance of a contract.
- Security and abuse prevention (e.g. detecting fake results or bots) — our legitimate interest.
- Analytics — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use these service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Vercel — hosting, plus cookieless, aggregated Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
- Supabase — database for accounts and results.
- Pusher (EU cluster) — real-time multiplayer races.
- Google — sign-in with Google and, with your consent, Google Analytics and Google AdSense advertising.
Some providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
5. Cookies and local storage
- Strictly necessary: sign-in session cookies (only if you log in) and your cookie choice.
- Preferences: your theme (light/dark), stored in your browser.
- Analytics (optional): Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*), set only after you accept them. - Advertising (optional): we show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. Personalised advertising is only used with your consent; otherwise you may see non-personalised ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info. See also how Google uses data when you use our site.
You can change your choice at any time:
6. Affiliate links
Some pages, such as Best Keyboards, contain affiliate links (for example to Amazon). If you click one, the retailer may set its own cookies to attribute the purchase. We do not receive any personal data about you from the retailer, only aggregated commission reports. See our affiliate disclosure.
7. How long we keep it
Account data and results are kept while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and results. Hosting logs are kept by our provider for a short period for security.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. To exercise these rights, email hello@type-quick.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Accounts are intended for users aged 16 or older. Younger users may use the typing tests without an account, or create one with permission from a parent or guardian.
10. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
